Here’s a list of SPJ resources and links, as well as links to some of our partners:

SPJ.org — The national SPJ site has endless resources, including training videos, Freedom of Information, First Amendment and ethics help and more. There’s also information on SPJ events including regional and national conferences.

Journalist’s Toolbox — This frequently updated list of links and resources is run by SPJ. It provides resources and links for journalists to use on timely events as well as on subjects like data, visualization and more.

SPJ Detroit Pro Chapter — The home page for our state’s other major pro chapter. They’ve always got some great events going so be sure to check back often.

Central Michigan Public Relations Society of America (CMPRSA) — The local chapter of PRSA. Several of our local SPJ members are also CMPRSA members and public relations professionals.

Capital City Writers Association — A relatively new organization for writers of all kinds based in Lansing. Journalists, freelancers, fiction and nonfiction writers make up its membership.

Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) — IRE is a membership organization with a focus on improving investigative and data reporting. Its website has several resources available to members also, including a data library and archives of examples of effective investigative and watchdog journalism.

The Sunlight Foundation — This organization advocates for open government and data. They develop tools and other resources for journalists to achieve this purpose.
